 n Conference 2010\nAn invitation to help shape the Australian Synchrotron 
 Imaging and Medical Beamline to meet the needs of clinical researchers\n 
 \nThe Australian Synchrotron is constructing a world-class facility for me
 dical research. The ‘Imaging and Medical Beamline’ (IMBL) began phased com
 missioning in late 2008 and is scheduled to commence clinical research pro
 grams with patients in 2011. The IMBL will provide unrivalled x-ray facili
 ties for medical diagnosis and therapy.\nThe priority given to medical res
 earch at the Australian Synchrotron has prompted enthusiastic support from
  the Australian biomedical\, medical and clinical communities and has led 
 to significant investment in the facility. This nexus of expertise\, resou
 rcing and commitment creates the potential for the IMBL to lead the world 
 in key areas of clinical research and applications using synchrotrons.\nSu
 ccess lies in building instruments that can tackle the clinical communitie
 s’ research questions. This meeting will bring together scientific and tec
 hnical synchrotron medical researchers from around the world with leading 
 medical research experts and clinicians. This first-ever forum will presen
 t the aspirations of clinical researchers and discuss what is needed to ma
 ke these new applications a reality.\nThe outcome of this meeting will be 
 a clear roadmap that will drive the establishment of the IMBL.\nAttendance
  is recommended to anyone interested in the medical and clinical applicati
 ons of synchrotrons.\nThe format of the meeting will be:\n\nShort talks by
  clinicians on challenges or research they would like to tackle using the 
 IMBL.\nShort talks by clinicians and researchers on the work they are doin
 g using synchrotrons.\nLively discussions to identify the most promising m
 edical research topics that will drive the design\, construction and estab
