 ding areas normally restricted to specialist scientists and engineers.\nSe

 entre for Synchrotron Science and around any of nine specialist beamlines.
 \nThere will also be the ever-popular presentation “Synchrotron science fo
 r dummies” and some activities for the kids.\nThe Australian Synchrotron a
 ccelerates electrons to almost the speed of light\, to produce intensely b
 right light -- one million times brighter than the sun’s rays! The synchro
 tron light -- which ranges from infrared to hard x-rays -- is used to anal
 yse a vast range of materials such as human tissue\, plants\, proteins\, a
 rtefacts and minerals at the atomic scale.\nBy being able to see materials
  in such astonishing detail\, the synchrotron is assisting researchers to 
 investigate how medicines might be more effective\, industry more innovati
