Note for teachers

Apart from the Educational Virtual Beamline (see below), this area is currently under development. In the near future we will provide a number of educational resources for teachers and students in senior science courses to support curriculum and engage students. These will include online games, experiments, worksheets and videos that target the senior science audience. Additional information available to teachers will include notes, solutions and curriculum assessment links as well as links to professional development sessions planned to run in 2010.

Keep an eye on this site, as items will be uploaded on a regular basis. In the meantime, useful information is also available in the ABOUT SYNCHROTRONS (synchrotron science) section and from the Publications page in the NEWS, EVENTS AND PUBLICATIONS section of this website.

For further information, teachers can contact Jonathan de Booy, Outreach Officer, at jonathan.debooy@synchrotron.org.au

Educational Virtual Beamline

The Educational Virtual Beamline available from the left-hand menu in this section is specifically designed for students and teachers at this level. The eVBL demonstrates, in real time, Thomas Young’s classic double-slit diffraction experiment. The experiment is designed for use in the VCE Physics Unit 4, Study Area 2: Interactions of Light and Matter. It also provides a link to the optional Detailed Study 3.1: Synchrotron and Its Applications.
