Martin completed his PhD in Physics in 2005, winning the University of Melbourne Chancellor's Prize and the ASRP Thesis Medal. From there he started working with the scanning x-ray fluorescence microscope at the Advanced Photon Source in Chicago, where he developed methods for studying metals distributions in biological specimens, including Differential Phase Contrast (DPC) imaging and X-ray Fluorescence Tomography. In 2008 Martin moved to the Australian Synchrotron to pursue the possibilities of fast-scanning measurements, with a strong focus on x-ray fluorescence tomography of biological specimens. Martin leads the design of the High-Coherence Nanoprobe in the Australian Synchrotron Development Plan. Qualifications: B.A., B.Sc. (Honours), Ph.D. - Physics (The University of Melbourne)
