Who says scientists have no culture?

Beamline scientist Anton Tadich recently emulated the art of Christo and Jeanne-Claude by wrapping the soft x-ray beamline in plastic “to help reveal its inner beauty”.

Like Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s works of art, the wrapping of the beamline was temporary. (The plastic served to protect the beamline from an insect spraying program, but that is clearly irrelevant.)

To quote Christo and Jeanne-Claude: “The fact that the work does not remain creates an urgency to see it. For instance, if someone were to say, "Oh, look on the right, there is a rainbow," one would never answer, "I will look at it tomorrow." http://www.christojeanneclaude.net/
