Welcome to 2015! To save you time Lightspeed is now much shorter. We encourage you to send us your feedback and continue to let us know when you have exciting synchrotron-related news to share.
Events coming up in 2015 include a public open day on 11 October 2015, building on community interest promoted by the International Year of Light. The Synchrotron will feature on the world stage when we host three major international events, including the 9th Asia-Oceania Forum for Synchrotron Radiation Research, to be held in conjunction with our annual User Meeting on 25-27 November 2015.
We’re working closely with the new Victorian Government to strengthen the dialogue between Commonwealth and state governments about the best way to secure long-term stability for the Synchrotron’s operations. ANSTO and the Synchrotron will also continue to engage with the broader stakeholder community in discussions about appropriate future developments. We’re optimistic that 2015 will bring good news about the pathway to long-term stability and broader investment in new beamline technology and facility upgrades.
And speaking of the outlook for the future, I’m very pleased to announce the appointment of Emma Liepa as Head of Industry Engagement & Communications. Emma was formerly Communications Director at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. You’ll hear from Emma herself in the next edition of Lightspeed.
