Every vacant position at Australian Synchrotron will be advertised on this website and may also be advertised on external websites. This website will also contain the position description and selection criteria and will form the basis of your application. When applying for a position with Australian Synchrotron your application should contain a cover letter, up-to-date curriculum vitae (resume) and response to the selection criteria (if requested) that is detailed in the position description and advertisement. When requested, addressing the selection criteria is compulsory and forms an important part of your application, it allows the selection panel to determine your suitability for the vacancy.
Shortlisting
Shortlisting of applicants commences soon after the closing date for applications. Completion of shortlisting may take several weeks to complete, depending on the number of applications received. Shortlisting will be completed by a selection panel and candidates will be considered against the selection criteria. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application within a few weeks of the closing date. The interview
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview. Interviews will be conducted by a selection panel and ranked against the same criteria.
Employment Declaration
When called for an interview, the candidate will have to complete an Employment Declaration consenting to a police check (if required) and health checks, including disclosure of any pre-existing health conditions that the candidate is aware of or can foresee that could be affected by the nature of the position that he / she is applying for. Depending on the nature of the condition this could result in a requirement to proceed with a Health Check. The outcome of this assessment is considered along with the other steps in the recruitment process.
Reference checks
Reference checks form part of the Australian Synchrotron standard recruitment process. Candidates are asked to provide names and contact details of professional/work related referees (preferably from your current and/or most recent employer(s)) as part of their application and/or during the interview process.
Psychometric assessment
Candidates who are shortlisted to a final interview may be required to undertake a psychometric assessment which will include a personality profile and verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning assessment. The outcome of this assessment is considered along with the other steps in the recruitment process.
Visa requirements
When a candidate is not eligible to work in Australia, Australian Synchrotron may consider sponsoring the candidate. Details are discussed with the successful candidate.
