There is a rapidly growing demand for access to synchrotron Small Angle Scattering (SAS) for biological solution scattering, however many researchers know only a little about the applicability and limitations of this technique. The workshop aims to inform the biology community about modern SAS instrumentation, experimental design and data analysis with particular emphasis on modelling from low-resolution solution scattering data. The Australian Biological Small Angle Scattering Workshop is targeted at researchers in structural biology, from PhD students to post doctoral fellows, and even interested group leaders.
A group of experts from the international SAS community, including the EMBL (Hamburg), and staff from the Australian Synchrotron SAXS/WAXS beamline will present the workshop and be on hand to answer questions. It is expected that with the ever growing demand for SAXS beamtime among biological users, the workshop will prove extremely valuable and places will be highly sought.
Hosted at Australian Synchrotron, this Workshop will comprise an introduction to SAS techniques on day one for those with no experience with SAS methods, followed by three days of in-depth instruction on collecting high quality SAS data and analysis strategies.
Registration fees:
Registration will include lunch and morning and afternoon tea each day. GST is included in the price.
Date | Course | Price |
13 November | Introduction to BioSAS | $50 |
14-16 November | AusBioSAS - academic participants | $250 |
14-16 November | AusBioSAS - industry participants | $650 |
Introduction to BioSAS is intended for beginners or those with an interest in biological SAS who have not yet completed any experiments using this technique.
ausBioSAS is designed for active Users of SAXS or SANS who have completed experiments on laboratory, synchrotron or neutron sources. This program assumes significant prior knowledge of these techniques. Beginners with no data should go to the Introduction to BioSAS workshop immediately preceeding ausBioSAS. Delegates will be required to pre-install software (scatterBrain and Atsas) for hands on activities.
